Just published results revealed details on species differences on Couamrin metabolis. Researchers from several collaborating research groups showed that substituted 7-hydroxycoumarins undergo sulfonation metabolism in different rates in different animal species. Also, the substitution of coumarins affected the rate of metabolism. Results give important knowledge on metabolism in mammalians that can be used to understand drug metabolism and to design and develope new drugs.
In the presented research, a novel fluorescence-based method for determination of sulphonation was also developed.
